The Drexel Poling Service Above Self Award presentation:

  • Shirley Dunlap Bowser has been selected as this years award recipient for her tireless efforts of planning for the future of Pickaway County and the needs of its residents
  • Shirley is the co-founder of the Pickaway County Community Foundation along with the late Doris Yamarick and has chaired and been a part of so many boards it’s not possible to have a complete list!

New member induction: 

Kevin Driesbach, sponsored by Tony Robinson, was welcomed into membership today! Kevin is a small business owner: Patriot Trophy & Awards, member of SAR, and author. He is a retired firefighter and received his first service project – a blanket to tie for CASA.

New member approved by the board: Brenna Gibson must have enjoyed our meeting because she has submitted an application and has been approved by the board! She has been a member of Sunrise Rotary and looks forward to returning to Rotary Service through our club. Thank you Michele Lanman for sponsoring Brenna.

Announcements: 

  • Bonus Community Kitchen is Monday at the Presbyterian church. 3:30pm-5:30pm. P3 will provide the desserts!
  • Warren Spangler presented Nick Tatman from Pickaway County Jobs & Family Services $500 as the presidential charity recipient

Scholarship Drawing:  Gary Dean won the weekly drawing for $26. Big Bean pot has started over at $40+, and continues to grow!

Program: Pickaway County Community Foundation (PCCF) – Teratia Welch

  • Three major ways to funnel money back to the community: Grants, Scholarships for higher education; Pickaway county initiatives
  • 2002 first fund : Starkey Fund for Youth
  • Money as well as property can be donated to PCCF
  • Multiple fundraisers are held throughout the year
  • 2022: over 17,000 pounds of hamburger given to Pickaway Co. community
  • 2023: 14,000 pounds of beef from Pickaway County Fair butchered by Train Station Meats. All meat disbursed to 12 local organizations.
  • 2024:
    • Ag Chat – new initiative of the Ag committee to on next in different ways with the ag community
    • Building our team at the foundation
    • Inspiration Station: construction started in Q1 2024 and inside construction done by end of August. Still looking for donations for the exhibits – please contact PCCF.
    • Assets: Columbus Foundation: $11.94M  Locally Held Funds $5.78M = $17.2M total
  • Grants – four quarterly submissions
  • Leadership Fellows program – learn about our community, state government 
  • Youth Advisory Council, 100+ Women Who Care, 100+ Men Who Care

  • September 5th: Farm To Plate – reservations being taken now
