- It is time for the renewal of our by-laws. Vote to approve changes: Approved unanimously
- Voting for board members whose terms will begin July 1st: Board members: Paula Routt & Bob Foster are staying on, Michele Lanmon is being added and John Lambert moves up to President-Designee. Approved unanimously. (Congratulations!)
- Pass the hat is next week for Rodney (cook) and Jordan (waitress)
- Community Kitchen – Thank you to Gary & Sandy, Marie & David; Warren; Chef Bob McCrady. We were alittle short on help – please mark your calendar for the fourth Monday of each month. We are regularly preparing 165 meals.
- Rotary Frosty 5K — Feb. 8th – 10am race time at MVCH Park. Rotary Fundraiser with both Circleville clubs – Shirt & Mug for your $35 donation (don’t have to run, but donate and of course volunteer)

- 125,000 service customers in 24 counties with over 12,000 miles of electric power lines
- 280 employees
- Last 5 years, you see the increase in your rates because of the rising costs of equipment – between cost of material and labor, costs have risen 100%
- Supply chain issues impacted heavy trucks and other materials
- Trimming trees is contracted out and first time since 2020 did not see increase
- South Central Power Company Foundation: $5.4 million donated since foundations began in 2014
- More than $682,000 donated in 2023
- 114 grants and scholarships awarded in 2023
- Fiber project – connectSCP improve fiber to rural ohio
- Parts of 14 counties, 13,615 households, almost 1 million dollars
- Started Sept. 2023, connecting homes started in May 2024 with over 1,700 subscribers as of December
- ConnectSCP.com to register your location to help South Central Power plan for future fiber work
- Federal Government has allocated over $800million to state of Ohio for more expansion of fiber. Waiting for opportunity to apply for some of the money
- South Central has held two “Streaming 101 classes” to help folks see how to save money by getting rid of dish and sign up for South Central
- Ohio Buckeye Power provides generation resources and transmission coordination to Ohio’s 24 Electric co-ops
- 90% of our energy comes from fossil fuel generation
- Cost of transmission up 230% since 2018 and over 400% since 2011. Capital investments at the plants because of changing regulations
- Federal level: EPA regulations issued in May 2024:
- Required 90% carbon capture and storage by 2032 or retirement for existing coal and natural gas plants
- Legal challenge to US Supreme Court (unproven technology, too costly, unreasonable timelines)
- Demand for power is projected to increase far beyond current supply
- Electrification of cars, trucks, heating
- Ohio load could double by 2030 just by adding data centers
- Federal Energy Regulatory commission upped its 5 year load growth forecast from 2.6% to 4.7%

- To go carbon free, nuclear has its risk. Georgia has the newest reactor which was $20billion over budget and 7 years past due date
