Scholarship Drawing: Suzie Reeves won the weekly drawing for $18 and donated it back. Big Bean is $319, and continues to grow!
Program: Mark Maier – Pet Taxidermy
- About 10 years ago Mark decided to go away from wildlife to pets
- Taxidermy means “removing skin”
- Mark started in 1975 by reading books since there were no schools for training
- Has been doing taxidermy part or full time since 1975
- He has a whole family business with wife and children involved with a total of 8 employees
- 475 dogs/cats/birds/reptiles were done 2 years ago
- His location is next to Interstate Battery on Rt.23
- All over North America send pets to Mark
- Around 250 people a year would like their pet’s heart preserved
- People love their animals and want to keep them close, they will pay for taxidermy which can be in the thousands of dollars
- They provide a life-time guarantee on their work
