  • Varsity 34-31 win last night for the first game of the season

Program: Sons of the American Revolution: Tony Robinson & Kevin Driesbach

  • 135th Annual Congress hosted by the Connecticut SAR drew more than 470 compatriots. Tony and Kevin walked us through their experience.
  • Local SAR does offer scholarships for elementary through high school students
  • Our local SAR chapter came in third in the country for members under 50
  • America 250  – SAR is already planning on the events to help celebrate
  • 154 men and one women who fought in the Revolutionary War are buried in Pickaway County – a plaque is going to be erected in the county courthouse with their names
  • SAR national office houses the George Washington ring which is presented to the President of the SAR congress

  1. Honor Flight recap – Charlie thanks us for the gift and it was an honor to go. Started as Captain in US Air Force. He was stationed in Orlando during the two campaigns going on: Cold War B-52’s always ready to head to Russia and China; also Vietnam soldiers. For Honor Flight he was at the airport at 5:30am – landed at Dulles and Marine memorial was first, Tomb of the Unknown for changing of the guard, etc. Water cannons treated the plane upon arrival back around 10pm along with 1500 people lining the concourse. Very emotional day.
  2. Month of November – Club’s Toys for Tots collection – if you bring in something (unwrapped) you get a strip of raffle tickets – see Daryl
  3. Board meeting: 5 students will be sponsored by our club for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) in July at Athens OU (sophomores and juniors are eligible); also $250 contribution to Walk to End Alzheimer’s
  4. New recognition for giving in District: 125 club + $75 more = $200 Club. Jayme will send in paperwork so you don’t pay the processing fee. See her for more giving options.

Program: Guests today from ROC (Roots of Change) – Pickaway Addiction Action Coalition are Amy Rhymer, Bella and Lydia

  • 1 in 5 adults have a mental health event in a given year while Ohio high school students that rises to 35%
  • 18% of Ohio high school students seriously think about suicide
  • Nearly 50% of people with a substance abuse disorder also experience a mental health illness at some point in their lives
  • Frequent substance use in the teenage years can lead to latent psychiatric issues
  • 2023 started the youth group ROC
  • Be the Change Rally – Harry Miller ended OSU career because he was struggling with mental health issues – he is now a mental health advocate. He came to Pickaway county for an event and impacted our youth
  • The Paper Quilt – at homecoming at all the schools – “what would you tell your 15 year old self” on stick notes which were turned into a quilt and posters which hang in all schools
  • Logan Elm having informational day for grandparents raising their grandkids
  • “Hidden in plain site” is a program to show the adults where drugs, nicotine, etc. are being hidden – strings of hoodies is just right for vapes
  • Health Department – Pickaway Co. first dispensary machine – free Narcan, hygiene items, etc. 
  • ROC will be going to a nursing home in December – ROC “It’s Cool to Care for Seniors”. The group has a different focus each month.

  3. Pumpkin Show Booth report: 
    • Number of pie pieces sold – 2,080
    • Number of 2-litters of root beer used and purchased – 135 bottles (our root beer collection bottle covered all the cost – plus alittle more)
    • Gallons of ice cream sold – 210 gallons
    • Numbers of credit card transactions – 976 for almost $7,500 in purchases
    • 32% of all money was credit cards
    • Tuesday night was the best it’s been 
    • $23,000 in sales with $15,500 profit
    • 61 big wheel race tickets were turned in and 23 pre-sale tickets turned in
    • Thursday and Friday night Daryl and Rob ordered pies around Columbus with Rob’s son-in-law picking them up
  4. “Gift of Hope” boxes: Our $5,120 was part of over $11,000 donated for the Nightbirde Foundation – our boxes were donated to Berger and pictures are coming. Thank you to Tony & Vickie Robinson; Rob & Dodie Radcliff; Missi Rhodes, Bob Sneed, David & Marie Crawford for joining the event at Pickaway-Ross with Sunrise Rotary and both Chillicothe clubs.

  • Mosquito trapping for West Nile Virus testing

  • Working with different grants: Emergency preparedness; Opioid response (75 last year with 25 entering treatment; Safe Splash program for disability water safety; driver education assistance; Get Vaccinated; Retail food inspection training

  • Chief Davidson: started in 1997 – chief, 2022: 127 square miles is covered
  • Last 10 years, 70% increase in runs, estimate 20% grown in next 5 years
  • City of Ashville last 5 years, built 550 new homes/apartments and anticipating 1,000 more in next couple years
  • South Bloomfield built 900 homes/apartments in last 5 years
  • Sod farm – west side of 23 is in contract now for 2,000+ homes
  • 23/752 southeast corner – development for something
  • Warehouse district – 18 warehouses today, 11.2 million square feet
  • 762 boudin pierce – 4 million square feet coming of warehouses
  • Intermodal – 24 trains a day come through Ashville at 55 mph. 1500 containers arrive daily. Getting ready to add more.
  • Public safety building is in the works in South Bloomfield. Working with state of Ohio to fund it at old municipal building on Union St. First quarter 2026 decision.
  • 752 and Walnut Creek pike another roundabout
  • 23 will be going over 762 is a couple years away
  • 6700 square feet has been added to the existing firehouse. They have added the 9th firefighter 
  • Ladder and tanker trucks ordered for over $2million
  • Anduril – building drones with over 5million square feet under roof. 4000 employees. 5-7 buildings with each building bigger than Ohio Stadium
  • Chief Thompson: Circleville covers is 6.7 square miles
  • Year to date: 3,715 calls for service. 2,717 EMS and 997 Fire. Total calls YTD up by 40
  • Currently down 2 people and if levy does fail, would be down 7 more people
  • Pickaway Township is part-time paid around the clock, so that has reduced Circleville mutual aid

  • Code enforcement officer has started
  • Homelessness – a lot of work being done with surrounding counties
