  • Andy Eisnaugle is the Director of Financial Education for Atomic Credit Union in Piketon, Ohio. He is a graduate of Jackson High School in 2007 and Ohio University in 2011 where he received his Bachelors in Business Administration.
  • Andy joined the Atomic team in 2014 and has helped expand their Student-Run Credit Union program from 6 schools to now operating 74 schools across southern Ohio. 
  • Westfall is most recent High School and only one in Pickaway County.
  • Atomic Credit Union currently operates the largest Student-Run Program in the country.
  • Student Run Credit Union – teaching students about financial literacy
  • Atomic Credit Union part-time associate goes into schools each week – can make deposits and withdrawals. 
  • Beginning of school year, students apply for a position in working in the school credit union. 5th graders and up can apply as volunteer tellers, member services, bookkeepers, data input.
  • Kids go through interviews and training
  • New accounts is started with $2 from Atomic. 
  • Over 800 student volunteer workers in the 71 branches. Over 14,000 transactions and $128,000 saved this school year.
  • 24 part-time Atomic members oversee the 71 branches
  • 31 school districts involved
  • No cost to the school – Atomic has all of the equipment
  • Three scholarships offered for each school participating from Atomic
  • Atomic won the National award for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education award
  • During summer, students go to the actual Atomic Credit Union branches in their neighborhoods

    • $17,000+ given to Foundation last year

  • This year RI has six strategic initiatives
    • Membership – 1.3 million members around the world for last 20+ year.  We need to grow.  What can I do to enhance my Rotary experience ?  Feb-Apr (each one bring one); Sept-Nov we had 21 guests
    • Club Leadership – every single year, top leadership changes. Projects, committees, are all leadership possibilities in growing your Rotary experience 
    • Peace – we are already a peace club. Matching grant from district is possible. Peace projects include children’s projects (Youth Service committee, 4-way speech project, Dolly Parton library contribution), peace poles, etc.
    • Mental Health – awareness is low and stigma is high. Rotary wants to flip that. Raise awareness, learn to identify sign’s someone needs help. Have mental health speaker, volunteer. Ohio Dept. Mental Health have free program.
    • Impowering Girls – 8-13yr old girls loose confidence – get involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. District March Madness collection of Women’s Products will be taking place again.
    • Rotary International’s main focus – End Polio. 30 years ago, 1,000 children a day diagnosed. Today, only 12 cases in 2 countries. $250,000 in our district is the goal for Polio. This is the March Toward Zero. Please support the cause.

 Program:  Julie Baker – PATH Behavior Health Organization in Circleville

  • Integrated services for serving the needs of everyone in the county
  • Portsmouth is where PATH started
  • Currently 44 offices in Ohio ; also in Utah, NC and Louisiana 
  • PATH – accepts Medicaid and commercial insurance, sliding fee scale, and some pro-bono
  • Now working with VA to provide service to veterans
  • Provide services to ages 3+
  • Community meetings – in libraries, restaurants, wherever people are
  • In-house labs with own RN’s, doctors as well as the therapists 
  • Case managers are also at PATH. People who are in the schools, parks, making sure clients are eating, bills are getting paid, talk about transportation, they see the clients in the real world, does not have to be on Main St.
  • PATH mobile pantry — Purple Bus. Non-profit arm. Bus will go out and pass out meals, sunscreen, clothes where people are. Chillicothe pool, parks, etc.
  • Opened in Circleville a few months ago at 120 W. Main St. And are looking to partner with churches, non-profits, community events.
  • They have a giving tree in the lobby – hats, gloves, socks for winter is the theme

  • District Awards for last Rotary Year (2022-2023) were presented last weekend and our club came away with three:

  • Sock-tober District competition has netted 1.202 pairs of socks.  (Last years total was 770.) Betty Wolford, Corner Closet accepted the socks. We thank Angela Beavers and her customers for contributing 402 pairs; Matt Hafey and Janet Spangler who dropped off a box each of socks. 
  • Corner Closet – any baby to children’s size clothes donations would be very helpful
  • Donation was made of $250 for Luena Foundation. Greg Lam indicates it will help build a medical center and bio toilets in Western Uganda
  • Jingle Bell Tea – Dec. 10th. Call historical society for reservations 
  • Wreaths Across America – “Camp Charlotte SAR” for checks – $17 per wreath. See Gary, Tony or Rob.

  • Chief Baer reports:
    • Accidents are down within the city from 185 all year to YTD=100
    • There are 200 fewer citations this year
    • 5,000 more calls for service this year (majority are not emergent, just informational)
    • Work together with fire department more and training with many other offices
    • More virtual crimes and child sex crimes are up with search warrants for computer searches
  • Chief Thompson
    • Started in 2019 – should have had 15 full time firefighters
    • Please vote for levy on Tuesday
    • Was able to get to 18 full time firefighters
    • Added 6 more fully funded by federal government grant for three years
    • 24 full time firefighters/EMT’s currently 
    • Now doing in house CPR training
    • Looking for all grants and funds available
    • 3,813 emergency calls – 85% medical, rest is fire
    • Current ladder truck is from 1997, one is being built and funded by a grant
    • Ambulance services – MedCare will not do call for nursing home transport to hospital only return to nursing home from hospital. Therefore, nursing homes call EMT’s for transport
    • Cardiac/stroke/unresponsive- ambulance and fire truck to help with manpower if needed
  • Any thoughts about city roundabouts? Walnut Creek and N. Court St potential
  • Coughlin Auto working on the land across from Sheetz in order to put it up for sale

  • Big Wheel Race wrap-up with Jim Hooks: 69 kids signed up and we had over 55 ride. A lot of media coverage and a big article in the paper. Thank you to all the volunteers!
  • Pumpkin Show Booth wrap-up with Daryl Wolfe. We have cleared a record amount thanks to all your hard work. $11,150.
    • How many pieces of pumpkin pie did we sell? 2,432
    • How many gallons of ice cream did we sell? 177 gallons
    • How many 2-liter root beers – 108
    • # of credit card transactions during the week – 531 ($3,600+)

  • Disaster Aid USA Trailer: Warren and Marie rode in Friday night parade with Dave Roasa, Grove City Rotary and the Zone lead for Disaster Aid USA. Also in town was Bruce Schultes from Cross Timbers Rotary in Texas, District 5790. The trailer is outfitted with over $12,000 in equipment.  Our club is listed with 13 others who contributed $500 or more. Home Depot provided a $4,300 grant for products to fill the trailer.

 Program:  Gerhard Maroscher – “An American Story”

  • Born in Romania during WWII. Family lived there for 800 years.
  • Dad was a teacher and mom was a homemaker
  • Romania became Hungary in 1940
  • Beginning 1944, the war came to home while dad was fighting
  • Left on last Red Cross train to go to Vienna which took 3 weeks
  • Made it to refugee camp in Austria – sickness overtook them
  • Mother negotiated with the Nazi camp director for women to be able to cook for their children. She lived to tell Gerhard his story
  • Dad was a POW
  • 1946 reunited with all family
  • Sponsored by Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley, made it to the USA
  • Gerhard visits local schools and any organization which asks – truth from someone who lived it
